What is an online conference?

Traditional conferences involve the cost of travel to the conference location and staying in a hotel. An online conference uses the Internet as the conference 'venue'. This means that you can access the conference from anywhere in the world and at any time during the day or night. You choose the schedule. You can log on for as little or as long as you want, an hour a day or for 6 hours at a time, before or after work, on weekends and evenings. Anyone with access to the Internet can participate (as long as they are registered!). Everything you would find at a traditional conference is available to you online. All the conference handouts will be posted for you to read and/or download, you will be able to ask questions and enter into chats with other conference participants, posting messages on the Interactive Bulletin Board.

What are the advantages of an online conference?

Traditional conferences mean participants have to travel and stay in a particular place. This takes time and is expensive. An online conference uses the Internet as the conference venue. This means that you can access the conference from anywhere in the world and at your convenience. Anyone with access to the Internet can participate.

What is a Certificate of Mastery and how does it differ from a Certificate of Attendance?

All registered participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance indicating that they registered for the 15 hour Basic Course on the DIR®/Floortime™ Model. In addition, interested participants will also have the opportunity to earn a Certificate of Mastery by demonstrating mastery of the basic concepts presented during the course. Throughout the Basic Course there will be opportunities for all registered participants to assess how well they understand the material. By answering short question and answer quizzes at the end of many of the segments you will be able to tell how well you have understood what was just presented. Anytime you feel you have not mastered a concept, you can review that segment of the course again. In addition, you can post questions about the course for Dr. Greenspan to answer. At the conclusion of the course, participants who are interested in receiving a Certificate of Mastery will have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the basic concepts that were presented by successfully completing a final "Test of Mastery". This test will consist of reviewing one or more video clips posted on the conference website and answering questions that require the application of the concepts presented during the Basic Course. Participants will NOT be required to submit their own videos, the video clips will be provided as part of the final Test of Mastery. A Certificate of Mastery of the concepts presented in the Basic Course ensures acceptance to the DIR® Summer Institute, the first step in obtaining Certification as a DIR® professional.
