Meltdowns
Helping Infants, Children and Adolescents Overcome Behavior Problems, Aggression and Tantrums
Taught by Stanley I. Greenspan, M.D.
This workshop will present basic principles for helping children
with special needs, including autistic spectrum disorders,overcome meltdowns
and related behavior problems, and difficulties with controlling aggression,.
Using approximately ten (10) hours of audio and video files,
a number of cases will be presented that apply the different principles to
age groups ranging from infants to adolescents. Case studies will also be used
to illustrate this approach for a variety of different types of meltdowns.
This workshop will be especially helpful for parents and all professionals
who work in home, educational,office, or clinical settings. There will be opportunities
to post questions to Dr. Greenspan as well as to interact with other participants
using an interactive bulletin board. Participants will receive
a Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the workshop.
Regulatory Sensory Processing Disorders
Taught by Rosemary White, OTR/L and Stanley I. Greenspan, M.D.
Understanding the child’s sensory profile is essential
for all interactions and learning. This ten‐hour
workshop will examine the sensory modulation continuum of sensory registration
and response to stimuli and how it influences behavior, attention, impulse
control, postural control, motor control and functional skills. It will explore
sensory, motor, and emotional patterns underlying challenges in relating and
communicating including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Regulatory Disorder, ADHD,
behavior problems and learning challenges. It will address motor planning,
the core capacity necessary for sequencing interactions with people and objects,
as well as building bridges between ideas and abstract thought. There will
be opportunities to post questions to Dr. Greenspan and Ms. White as well as
to interact with other participants using an interactive bulletin board. Participants
will receive a Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the workshop. Rosemary
White, OTR/L, is Director of Pediatric Physical and Occupational Therapy
Services in Seattle, WA and is a Faculty Member of the ICDL Graduate School
and the DIR® Institute With each workshop there will be opportunities
to post questions to Dr. Greenspan and Ms. White as well as to interact with
other participants using an interactive bulletin board.
Workshop participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance upon completion of each workshop.
